How Everyone Can Help Animals

Choose Plant-Based Meals —even once a day or one day a week!

Farmed animals raised for meat, dairy, and eggs are some of the most exploited individuals on Earth. Choosing plant-based is one of the most impactful ways to reduce demand for their exploitation and suffering.

You can easily create delicious, healthy, and satisfying plant-based versions of all your favorite meals and find plant-based options at many restaurants. Check out the Happy Cow app or simply Google plant-based versions of your favorite foods and recipes!

Volunteer with Sanctuaries, Rescues, and Advocacy Groups

We can have an immense impact when we come together to support mission-driven organizations fighting for respect and compassion for all living beings.

Whatever your talents and interests, there’s a volunteer role for you! Sites like Idealist.org (formerly VolunteerMatch) and VeganJobs.com make it easy to find impactful volunteer opportunities for animals.

Make a Gift

Making a gift to an animal charity is a powerful way to support the important work they do each day. Gifts support the people and organizations doing the work for animals that we cannot do alone.

Check out sites like Candid (formerly Guidestar) and Animal Charity Evaluators to learn more about various charities and their impact, whether local or global.

Share Educational Resources

Education is a cornerstone of change. Sharing information online and in person about the exploitation of animals and resources on plant-based living can help increase awareness and action to help animals.

You never know who may be listening and ready to start a ripple effect of positive change. Vegan Outreach (pictured) and their 10 Weeks to Vegan program are wonderful resources to get you started.

Attend Events

Attending outreach events, protests, sanctuary tours, fundraisers, and more can help you connect to animals, see them as individuals with their own unique personalities, and stand alongside others speaking up for those who are too often unheard, excluded from discussions, and denied moral consideration.

Contact Representatives on Animal Issues

When enough people speak up and apply enough pressure, our representatives listen. Following and subscribing to local animal charities and global advocacy groups like The Humane League and Mercy for Animals makes it easy to send timely, impactful emails and phone calls that add up.

As Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. reminded us, “The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.”

Animals are counting on people who are willing to do more than care—they're counting on people who show up, speak up, and take action.

Thank you for being one of those people.
