JOIN THE FLUFF SQUAD! Foster a rabbit from Only Sunshine Sanctuary! Only Sunshine Sanctuary is dedicated to helping rescue bunnies abandoned at a local park. We rely on fosters and adoptions to be able to continue to rescue the rabbits that are abandoned, making sure each rabbit gets spayed & neutered to prevent unwanted litters. We make sure our fosters and adopters are set up to take good care of an indoor house rabbit, giving them the tools and education they need to set a house rabbit up for success.

Frequently Asked Questions

We need people who can provide a temporary home for rabbits. You need:
- Indoor space for a rabbit to live in an exercise pen, with room to explore
- To be 18+ or have a parent or guardian who will help care for the bunnies
- Permission from your landlord and/or all members of your household
- Ability to take the rabbit to adoption events and vet appointments, OR the ability to coordinate with other fosters/volunteers to do so
- Time to spend time the rabbit(s) to socialize them with humans
- Ability to communicate with OSS if you notice your rabbit sick or injured
Rabbit fosters usually keep their rabbit(s) for 2-6 months. We can work with your schedule if you can only commit to one or two months, but we encourage fosters to continue doing so as long as they can and/or until the rabbit is adopted.
Only Sunshine Sanctuary will provide required supplies for bunnies such as pens, litter boxes, pellets, and medical care. Most fosters agree to provide hay and vegetables for bunnies as a donation, but this can be negotiable with Only Sunshine Sanctuary.
If you have a rabbit you’re interested in adopting but want to do a ‘test run’ in your home, we encourage signing up to foster with the intention to adopt. This is a win-win situation: the bunny gets a temporary home, and you don’t have to commit to something until you’re sure about it!
Aside from the uniquely special experience of getting to bond with and care for a house rabbit in need, we like to make sure our foster homes are well appreciated! New fosters will be invited to Only Sunshine volunteer events with free food and fun. They also receive Only Sunshine merchandise at cost and occasionally get fun freebies for their fosters and resident pets. You also get to be part of a friendly, warm, likeminded community of bunny lovers who support and uplift each other!
