The Story of Only Sunshine Sanctuary 💗

Once upon a time…

… —and still to this day—, there was a huge pet dumping problem in our community.

Every day…

… sheep, goats, pigs, roosters, domestic ducks, dogs, cats, and bunnies are abandoned by farmers and pet owners no longer able or interested in caring for them. Many have disabilities, unmet medical needs, or belong to species that are too often overlooked.

One day…

… Kristy Venrick-Mardon met one of these animals: a homeless pig named Harold who was looking for a family. She fell in love and knew she had to bring him home.

Because of that…

… Only Sunshine Sanctuary was born, with a mission to bring Only Sunshine into the lives of animals in need by providing food, shelter, medical care, and loving lifelong homes for animals who have nowhere else to go.

Because of that…

… our compassionate community has come together to rescue, care for, and find homes for more than 200 animals over the past six years, with many more to come!

Until finally…

… we hope that one day, every animal— regardless of their species, age, ability, or past—will have the safe, enriching, and loving home they deserve.
